WINTERTIDE: HANDPAN | HEARTH | HERBCRAFT

WINTERTIDE: HANDPAN | HEARTH | HERBCRAFT

Come Home to Winter

The world gets loud in December. The lists, the lights, the rush. But winter was never meant to be this way. Long before Christmas became commercialised, it was Yule - a season of candlelight, music, stillness, herbs and the slow return of the sun.

WINTERTIDE is a return to that.
A deeply restful gathering of live handpan sound, restorative yoga, Yule tea crafting, firelight and winter folklore.

Why Now?

We gather as the Winter Solstice approaches… the longest night of the year.
In the old ways, this was a time to pause, gather close, and honour the quiet power of the turning sun.

What to Expect

Live Handpan Sound Journey

Phil Begnett- handpan artist and host of the Handpan Voices podcast- will create a continuous soundscape throughout the session.

Not a performance. Not a class.
But a live, meditative soundtrack to soften the body and quiet the mind.

Restorative Yoga with Jax

While Phill plays, SunFyr founder Jax will guide a slow, grounding restorative yoga journey.
Think bolsters, blankets, long-held shapes, breath, nervous system rest.
No experience needed. Just a willingness to soften and be held.

Yule Tea & Herbcraft with Jess

After movement and music comes ritual.
You’ll handcraft your own Yule tea blend using herbs for warmth, heart and winter healing.
Jess will share tea, folklore, and the pagan roots of midwinter - evergreens, solstice flame, the original meaning of Christmas.

This Is For You If…

  • You long for meaning, not marketing, this season

  • You want to experience sound not as performance, but as connection

  • • You’re craving rest, not rush

  • You want depth, not more doing

  • You feel drawn to sound, ritual and winter magic

Your Guide

Phil Begnett

SunFyr Curates exists to bring voices to Norwich that wouldn’t normally be heard here, and Phil is one of them.

Phil Begnett is not just a musician.
He is a handpan player, sound explorer, storyteller and host of the Handpan Voices podcast, where he travels to meet performers, makers, and guardians of this modern yet ancient-feeling instrument.

Phil’s way of teaching is gentle and human — no performance, no pressure. He invites you into relationship with sound rather than mastery of it. Whether you’ve never touched a handpan or you’ve loved it for years, Phill creates a space where music becomes conversation, breath, connection.

Jax — Co-Founder of SunFyr Barns.

Yoga teacher, space-holder and curator of meaningful gatherings rooted in softness, strength and ancient wisdom.

Jess — Co-Founder of SunFyr Barns

Jess has always been drawn to spaces that feel like a warm hug — filled with plants, soft light, herbal tea, and quiet connection.

Formerly the founder of a much-loved coffee and plant shop, she now brings that same nurturing energy into SunFyr Barns. Here, she runs the café, dreams up herbal recipes, and is gently cultivating a medicine garden rooted in nature’s rhythms.

Alongside this, she is a massage therapist and yoga teacher, with a practice grounded in intuition, energy and deep rest. Jess guides the Yule herbcraft and tea ritual, weaving together her love of plants, nourishment, and the old ways of winter.

Community Offering

All proceeds from this event go directly to the SunFyr Community Project (CIC) — funding future community-based, heart-led offerings that bring people together in healing and connection.

Spaces are limited to 20. No replays. No next time.
Just one powerful evening- and a clearer, calmer you on the other side.
